3. Will the offensive line improve? Without question that’s a primary off-season goal. The Colts under Mudd were historically one of the league’s best pass-blocking lines, and that remained true last season. But the line is focused on not only improving that area, but run-blocking as well. The Colts aren’t as concerned with yards per game as they are yards per carry in the rushing offense, reason being they know the reality is that with Manning at quarterback they’re not likely to be a 120-130-rushing-yards-per-game team. But the Colts last year averaged about 3.5 yards per carry. They would like to see that improve, and in particular, there were areas in short-yardage that need to improve, too.
