The offensive line
The group is in flux and still a bit peeved after being singled out by Polian for what he considered to be a sub-par performance in the Super Bowl loss to the New Orleans Saints. Everyone should move past the criticism, but there’s no denying changes loom.
The main area of concern is guard. Left-side starter Ryan Lilja was released, opening competition that might include former starting left tackle Tony Ugoh and free agent pickup Andy Alleman. Kyle DeVan was plucked off an Arena2 roster and supplanted Mike Pollak as the right-side starter midway through last season. He’ll have to fend off Pollak’s attempt at regaining the position.
At some point, the team will have to consider eventual replacements for Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday and right tackle Ryan Diem. Each is signed through 2011.
