The Los Angeles Rams must draft at least a couple of WR’s in the upcoming NFL Draft as they are still weak at that position. Especially in the category of height size. Height of #Rams current top receivers: Tavon Austin: 5’8 Robert Woods: 6 ‘0 Pharoh Cooper: 5’11 Bradley Marquez: 5’10 Mike Thomas: 6’1.
The Los Angeles Rams need size and with a heavy wide receiver load coming into the draft this year, the Rams may be able to snag a late round WR that will fit with the team perfectly!
1. Chad Williams, Grambling State
Size – 6-foot-2, 194 pounds
Draft Projected – 3rd – 5th round
Information via The News Star:
“His body is just as big as those other guys. He’s just as fast as those other guys. He catches the ball just as well as those other guys, and he gets open. Then you add to it the hunger and the grit that he has, I think you’re talking about a player that can really make a contribution to an NFL franchise.”
2. Kenny Golladay, Northern Illinois
Size – 6-foot-4, 218 pounds
Draft Projected – 4th round
Information via Bleacher Report:
“If you’re a longtime reader, you know I love big wide receivers. This year’s class is full of size, but here’s a sleeper to keep an eye on. Golladay had 87 catches for 1,156 yards this past season and can be a red-zone mismatch in the pros. His route running needs work, and he doesn’t have the pure speed (4.50) to run past defenders, but at 6’4″ and 218 pounds, he can be physical and box out cornerbacks.”
3. Josh Malone: Tennessee
Draft Projected 4th-5th round
Information via SideLionReport:
“Josh Malone is an impressive playmaker that is projected to go in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A bit of a one-year wonder, Malone showed true big-play ability in 2016. His stats back that up with 972 yards and 11 touchdowns, on just 50 catches. He’s not the sure-handed possession receiver that Artavis Scott is likely to be, but 11 touchdowns in the S.E.C. is more than respectable. Sizewise, Malone is more suited to play on the outside. His 6-foot-3, 200 lb frame is one of the reasons he was a touchdown machine last season.”
4. Chance Allen: Houston
Size: 6-3. Weight: 215.
Draft Projected: 4-6th round
Information via Walter Football
Ross totaled 917 yards on 72 receptions with 12 touchdowns in 2016. He had some good moments at the Senior Bowl and held his own. Ross showed tremendous improvement as a junior. In 2014, he had modest production (30-489-5) before a huge increase in 2015 with 88 catches for 1,007 yards and five touchdowns. Ross has some size to him, and his speed will be the question for the NFL. It could be harder for him to produce as a senior with Dak Prescott moving on to the NFL.
5. Bug Howard, North Carolina
Size: 6-foot-4, 221 pounds
Draft Projected: 7th round
Information via NFL.com:
“Big target with sure hands. Has just four drops over his four seasons at North Carolina. Finds open areas against zone and sits quickly while opening to find the pass. Willing to work middle of the field and can secure catch through contact. Gets in the way enough to make a difference as a blocker. Long frame can lock into cornerbacks and neutralizes them as a run blocker.”
