I’ve gotten in the habit of referring to the Pac 12 as the best conference in volleyball, without giving it a great deal of thought. When you have five teams in the top seven of the national rankings week-in, week-out, you’re certainly the most top-heavy conference in the sport. But is that the same as best, especially when only one other school in the league even receives votes?
Contrast that with the Big Ten, who have the other two teams in the top seven, but also four other nationally-ranked teams plus two more receiving votes.
Which tips the scales further, the extreme top-heaviness or the greater balance of ‘very good’ teams? I leave it to you to decide. Vote and comment!
