Roster Update: The Indians made things official today by sending Juan Diaz back to AAA and activating John McDonald. McDonald was added to the 40 man roster yesterday when the Indians moved Brett Myers to the 60 Day DL. Diaz didn't play a single inning in the field during his six games with the team, making one wonder why he was brought up in the first place.
Player of the Game
Corey Kluber pitched one of his best games of the season with an eight inning effort. He allowed just a single run on six hits while earning the win. His 6.52 POG score was second to just his 10 strike out performance against Boston three starts ago. Drew Stubbs had a two run single earning him a respectable score of 3.61.
Feathers Up
With the infield in, Mark Reynolds finally broke through his RBI drought with a single, ending his 16 game streak of not having an RBI hit with a runner on. The RBI single gave the Indians a 1-0 lead before Reynolds was out on a Michael Brantley double play.
The Indians used a little no out lightning to break their losing streak tonight. In the fifth inning, the first five batters all reached base safely before an out was recorded, scoring three runs to extend the Indians lead behind Corey Kluber.
Jason Kipnis added another insurance run in the seventh inning to give the Tribe a 5-0 lead. After walking to lead off the inning, Kipnis easily stole second base. A Nick Swisher ground out moved Kipnis to third and he scored on a wild pitch.
Three double plays, including a couple started by Mark Reynolds at third, helped the Indians as the were error free on the night. The Rangers committed two errors on the other hand.
Corey Kluber was amazing tonight, shutting down one of the greatest offensive teams in professional baseball. He didn't allow an extra base hit until the seventh inning and didn't allow any runs until the eighth. He conserved pitches by throwing a lot of strikes and pitching to contact and was able to pitch into the eighth inning.
Feathers Down
The only negative is the eight game losing streak the Indians had to break tonight.
Final Score: Cleveland Indians 2 – Texas Rangers 5
