6/14 Game Recap: Indians 5 – Reds 12

Player of the Game

Shin-Soo Choo showed off his power in today’s game. He led off the game with a solo home run, giving the Indians and early lead. He hit another solo home run to lead off the 5th inning. This gave him a Player of the Game score of 6.08. Other than Choo, no Indian has had an RBI hit in the last two games. Every run was scored from a ground out.

Feathers Up

Indians pitchers added 2 more hits today. Josh Tomlin and Esmil Rogers each got a single in today’s Interleague match up.

Lou Marson continues to stay hot offensively. Marson had 3 hits today, raising his batting average to .246.

Esmil Rogers impressed in his second game played as an Indian. Scott Barnes left a mess for Rogers in the 5th inning, which he was able to get out of. Rogers pitched 1.2 innings today, stuck out 2, and allowed just 1 hit and an earned run.

The Indians 8-9-1-2 hitters provided much of the Indians offense. Lou Marson, the pitcher’s spot in the line-up, Shin-Soo Choo, and Asdrubal Cabrera combined to go 10-17 today with 2 home runs (Choo) and two doubles (Cabrera). Cabrera’s 3 hits today put him right below the .300 mark (.299).

Hitting Streak Update: Michael Brantley continued his hitting streak today with a double in the 7th inning. He has now hit in 21 straight games.

Feathers Down

Tribe pitching was weak in today’s game. Starting pitcher, Josh Tomlin, pitched just 4 innings and gave up 6 runs on 10 hits. He allowed 2 home runs, one to Joey Votto, the other to Brandon Phillips. Scott Barnes relieved Tomlin in the 5th inning. He only recorded 1 out before being removed from the game. Barnes gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and walked 2 batters. Combined today, Indians pitchers allowed 12 runs (11 earned) on 17 hits.
