Player of the Game
The Chiz Kid’s season-high 4 game slump came to an end tonight. Lonnie Chisenhall proved once again that he is able to produce offensively. Chisenhall hit a single in the 2nd and added his 8th home run of the season with a solo shot in the 4th.
Feathers Up
The Indians defensive contributed a few notable plays, despite committing an error that led to an unearned run. Jason Kipnis made a great diving play on the left side of the infield to retire Albert Pujols at first. In the same inning, a relay throw from Ryan Raburn allowed Asdrubal Cabrera to fire a shot into Yan Gomes, nailing Josh Hamilton at the plate to end the inning.
Feathers Down
Cleveland pitchers struggled to quiet the bats of the Angels. Starter Josh Tomlin managed to pitch 5.1 innings, but in doing so, he gave up 5 earned runs on 11 hits. His relief, Mark Lowe and Josh Outman, were also unable to shut down LA of A. The only reliever with a solid outing was Kyle Crockett, who pitched two outs of scoreless baseball.
Michael Brantley sat out tonight’s game with concussion-like symptoms.
Final Score: Cleveland Indians 3 – Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 9
On Deck: The Indians hope to celebrate Sandy Alomar’s birthday in style as Justin Masterson is scheduled to face off against C.J. Wilson at 7:05 in Cleveland.
