Player of the Game
Rajai Davis racked up 4 hits and 2 runs including the game-winning score in the bottom of the 10th.
Feathers Up
Rajai Davis had a great day at the plate and on the base paths today. Davis had 4 hits, including 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases, and 1 run scored.
Juan Uribe had similar success today as he smacked his 2nd home run in as many games. Maybe that shot to the groin sparked something inside him… He continued his hot hitting in the bottom of the 9th with a double to left-center that hit halfway up the left field wall.
Carlos Carrasco was far from the sharpest he’s ever looked, but he was certainly very good today. Cookie pitched 7.1 innings and allowed just 2 earned runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4. While he gave up yet another home run today, he minimized the damage the White Sox hitters were able to inflict, and most importantly he put the Indians in a position to win the ballgame.
Feathers Down
Carrrasco hasn’t had much run support in his outings this season, today was no different. The Indians were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position today. They squandered an attempt in the bottom of the 3rd with Davis on 3rd and no one out they could not push him across the plate.
Francisco Lindor has become known for many things since his big league promotion. One of them is his unique ability to contort his body mid-slide to avoid a defenders tag. Through this he has successfully taken an extra base or scored on multiple occasions. Today was a bit different. In the bottom of the 8th with Lindor on first, Mike Napoli lined a single into left field and Lindor tried to move to third. As the throw came to third, Lindor attempted his patented swim move to avoid the tag but could not complete the deal and was tagged out. It was an ill-advised attempt considering the importance of Lindor’s run. The Indians should have had runners on first and second with one out but instead were left with a runner on first with one out and the ensuing batter popped up to end the inning. Lindor will make the right play 9 times out of 10, but today was that exception.
Final Score: Cleveland Indians 3 – Chicago White Sox 2
On Deck: The Indians will kick off a series with Tampa Bay tomorrow at Progressive Field. Josh Tomlin will next the mound against Drew Smyly.
