Blues 3, Wild 1
Next up: Dallas

The Blues earn two important points at home, besting Minnesota by a close score of three to one. Lots of positives to take away from their performance, but also some disappointing news for Blues fans involving fan-favorite T.J. Oshie. The Blues return to the ice tonight against Dallas.

The Blues finally found their energy in the first period. Jay McClement got the game started off right, scoring his second goal of the season just 56 seconds into the game. Can’t ask for much of a better kickoff than that. The rest of the period was littered with chances as St. Louis fired 15 shots at the net as compared to the Wild’s 4. However, the Wild did have a few good chances but Chris Mason was up to the task, and made some remarkable saves.

The Blues pushed their lead to two through David Perron in the second, but Minnesota finally found the back of the net late in the second to bring the lead back to one.

The team seemed to collapse into a defensive shell in the third, limiting the Wild to just four shots, but only managing two themselves. This seemed like a dangerous tactic, but it was difficult to tell if Minnesota was just going a better job controlling the tempo or if the Blues were just trying to kill the clock. The Wild pulled their keeper late in the period, but Brad Boyes fired one home into the empty net to complete the Blues victory. Hopefully his scoring of the empty netter will jump start Boyes and send him on a hot streak.

With the next game just a few hours away, no major breakdown needed as one will be posted covering the good and bad from both games sometime either Sunday or Monday.

While the game against Minnesota was a tough but well earned two points, the matchup against Dallas should be a better measuring stick.

Some bad news for Blues fans, T.J. Oshie is out indefinitely following an appendectomy last night. He complained of pain/nausea and ended up needing surgery. There is no word when he will return.
