Party time!
Sometime between last night and this morning, this site got its 1,000th hit. Thanks everybody!
As I write this, we are sitting at 1,007 hits. The Net Set was launched on August 13, 69 days ago. A little quick math (thank you Google toolbar for doubling as a calculator) tells me that’s about 14 hits a day, which is more than I would have expected at this point.
And it’s been from all over the globe, little by little. Here’s a country rundown of the hits so far. Other nations, catch up with America!
It really is amazing that that many people have found their way here, and from such far reaches, in so short a time. And if by some miracle I have actual regular readers (comment if so!), thank you guys above all.
I’ll be perfectly transparent here — one of my main goals for starting this blog was to eventually get it to join SB Nation. That’s a network of 316 sports blogs that cover every sport and major North American professional team you can imagine…except volleyball. It’s a huge, conspicuous hole in their network. They say they’re always open to adding new blogs that cover gaps in their network, well, here I am, SBN! Plugging away and people are reading. So if you, dear reader, by any chance are an SBN member (and you totally should be, it’s an awesome setup having so many sites interrelated under one global login), maybe drop them a line saying you’ve got a favorite volleyball blog you’d like to see join up (Although I’ve done so twice and gotten no response. Not even “no” 🙁 ). They’ve got blogs covering far less popular sports (such as running and water polo…and although it’s not strictly a member of the network they also link to this, which I’m just gonna offer without commentary).
Once again, thank you all so much for reading, and please stay tuned. We’ve got a lot more volleyball coverage where the first thousand-views-worth came from!
