Preview: St. Louis @ Carolina
Live Chat Wednesday
St. Louis hits the road in a match up against the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday and FrozenNotes.com is set to debut a new feature during the game. The Blues have suffered a wealth of injuries already this season, matching a similar trend we all saw last season. The two squads both find themselves in a similar spot in the early going this season, and the game should be a tough battle for two important points. Stop by frozennotes.com for a live chat that will run from the first drop of the puck to the final whistle. If this first test run goes well, you can expect to see others during various games this season.
St. Louis Blues: 4-4-1 (9 points) @ Carolina Hurricanes 2-5-3 (7 points)

The Blues take to the road for a contest against an opponent we don’t see too often from the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes. While the opponent may be a bit unfamiliar, the Blues can use this game to break free of their .500 record and hopefully never look back.
On the other side, Carolina is searching to find their form from last season that carried them to 97 points and a playoff spot. Though the season is still young, the Canes look to string together a few victories following a disappointing loss in OT this past weekend at the hands of the Minnesota Wild.
Unfortunately, the major theme heading into Wednesday night’s contest is once again injuries. T.J. Oshie will be absent as he recovers from an appendectomy he required following the team’s loss at home to Dallas, but isn’t expected to miss a great deal of time. The same can not be said for D.J. King who in his first game back broke his hand in a fight just a couple minutes into the game. The seemingly always injured enforcer is set to miss 8-to-10 weeks.
On a brighter note, Carlo Colaiacovo is apparently not feeling many effects from the cheap hit laid on him by Steve Ott, as Dan O’Neill reports the d-man actively participated in practice Monday. With Brewer and Jackman still on the mend, losing Carlo for any amount of time sure would put a bind on the already inexperienced and young St. Louis blueline.
With the wealth of injuries plaguing the Blues, Yan Stastny has been called up from Peoria. He will need to clear waivers in order to join the team. News on whether he has been claimed or not should come at some time today. Stastny has been fantastic in Peoria this season, with 9 points in the team’s first 8 games. Here is to hoping he makes it through the waiver process unscathed as the Blues seriously need some depth for the next few games. As for Derek Armstrong, who could have been called up without having to pass through the waiver ordeal, he has been sick, just like everyone else in America.
Live Chat Wednesday
I will be attempting something brand new to FrozenNotes during the game this Wednesday, and that will be a live, interactive chat with the fans during the contest. CoverItLive.com offers a streaming chat for such events and I will give it a crack on Wednesday to see how well it all works. If things go well, you can expect to not only see more live chats in this space, but all across the Fanball Network. Stop in Wednesday at 6pm and join in!
