PLAYING CAREER: Montreal Expos (1989–1994), Atlanta Braves (1995–1996), Cleveland Indians (1997), Milwaukee Brewers (1998–2000), Los Angeles Dodgers (2001–2002) and San Francisco Giants (2003–2005)
ACHIEVEMENTS: Career batting average of .272, 227 home runs and 429 stolen bases. One of only seven Major Leaguers to have at least 2000 hits, 200 home runs and 400 stolen bases…Roberto Alomar, Craig Biggio, Barry Bonds and Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson, Paul Molitor and Joe Morgan are the others. Led the National League in stolen bases in 1991 and 1992 and was a two-time All-Star (1993 and 1994). Took home four consecutive Gold Gloves between 1993 and 1996. Batted .390 in the World Series…fourth best all-time among players with more than 50 career World Series at bats.
HOVG THOUGHTS: No one is ever going to confuse Marquis Grissom with a Hall of Famer, but there was a stretch of time where you could do plenty worse than the right handed hitting speedster. His first few years in the bigs, Grissom flirted at times with looking like a five-tool player…but, sadly, dude was pretty much downhill once he turned 30.
