USA Avoids Demotion
on Oshie’s Goal
He was passed over for the USA squad that competed in the Olympics, but T.J. Oshie is making the most of his opportunity to skate for the United States in the World Championships. With possible relegation to the second tier hanging in the balance, Oshie netted the winner in the sudden death shootout to give the Americans the win.
Tied up at two, the game between the United States and Italy went into a shootout, and finally a sudden death shootout before a winner was named. Oshie took all three of the shootout attempts in sudden death, burying his final attempt in the back of the net to give the squad a much needed victory.

Things have not gone well for the team in the Worlds thus far, being pushed to the absolute brink of demotion before pulling out the victory.
It’s nice to see Oshie contribute at an international level and Blues fans everywhere should be encouraged by his play in the tournament thus far. Oshie should use his experience competing at this level and use what he has learned to build upon it for the 2010-11 season. Oshie can be a dynamic two-way skater for his side, but seems to still have plenty of growing left to do, especially on the offensive side of things.
