Brett Hull – Hall of Famer

Brett Hull confirmed that he is apart of the Class of 2009 that will enter the Hall of Fame. He is set to join his father, Bobby, and become the first father-son player entries into the NHL Hall of Fame. Hull was a pivotal player for the Note, coming to St. Louis from Calgary in the 1987-88 season. He had four 100+ point seasons in St. Louis including an incredible 1990-91 season where he lit the lamp 86 times and finished the year with 131 total points.

Hull said:
It’s a great honor, it’s really unfathomable,” Hull told the Dallas Morning News ahead of the official announcement. “I mean, when you’re a kid, you dream about someday playing in the NHL or someday winning the Stanley Cup, but you just don’t think about this, so it’s hard to prepare yourself.”

Nice to see the former Blue gain entry amongst a stacked Class of 2009.

Other noteable players in the class of ’09 that are first-time eligible include: Steve Yzerman, Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch and Alexander Mogilny to name a few.

Some Blues fans held resentment towards Hull for later joining the rival Red Wings and going on to win the Stanley Cup after his three seasons in Dallas following his departure from St. Louis. Hard feelings aside, it is impossible to ignore the enormous impact Hull had on the team and the incredible years he had playing as a Blue.
