Sergei Zubov Named St. Louis Hockey Operations Consultant
Finally, news that doesn’t involve player greed, incompetent executives or canceled games. The St. Louis Blues have hired Sergei Zubov as a consultant to their hockey operations, as seen on NHL.com. The retired defenseman previously won Stanley Cups with the New York Rangers in 1994 and with the Dallas Stars in 1999. Zubov will specifically monitor the club’s European prospects as he serves the Blues on a consultant basis.
Zubov arguably is one of the best Russian-born players to ever skate in the NHL. He will work with the Blues and offer his opinion moving forward on how the Blues can select, train and improve their Russian prospects.
This looks like another perfect fit for the Blues. Who better to scope out Russian talent than one of the best Russians to ever play the game? At the very least, Russian prospects might find coming to the St. Louis organization a bit more appealing now that Zubov is involved.
