Roster Update: For the fifth straight day, the Indians have made a roster move, today, advancing Jose Ramirez to give the Indians extra depth with Asdrubal Cabrera out with injury. T.J. House was sent down to make room, as detailed earlier on BurningRiverBaseball.com.
Player of the Game
Jose Ramirez was not just called up today, but made the start at short and batted second in the order. He took advantage of the opportunity and made Terry Francona look good at the same time as he knocked in the first run of the game in the third inning. In his second at bat, Ramirez doubled down the left field line, scoring David Murphy from second with two outs and advancing Chris Dickerson to third. Both would have likely scored after, if not for a tremendous play by Eduardo Nunez.
Feathers Up
Even though his results weren’t as good, Trever Bauer actually pitched better than Danny Salazar did yesterday. Bauer threw six innings and allowed three runs, but none of his six hits allowed were hit hard until he gave up a solo home run to Oswaldo Arcia and he walked just two with seven strike outs.
This was the first time Roberto Perez was able to show off his impressive defense in his fourth game behind the plate. Perez made two amazing throws to catch base stealers, made even more impressive as those base runners were Danny Santana and Sam Fuld.
Feathers Down
The Indians feast or famine offense continued today and famine came up on the dice. After scoring eight last night, the Indians offense couldn’t get anything going against Anthony Swarzak and the Twins. The three through six hitters went 1/17 with six K’s and the entire team managed just four hits, one more than the Twins ninth hitter, Danny Santana. To make matters worse, two outs were wasted with sacrifice bunts trying to set things up for those middle of the order hitters who never came through.
The Indians had a great scoring opportunity handed to them in the eighth when Chris Dickerson walked and Jose Ramirez made it to second on an infield single after an error. The Indians top hitter, Michael Brantley, was coming up, but Brian Duensing relieved Casey Fien and induced a high pop to the foul side of third base to end the inning.

On Deck: Continuing on the road, the Indians will head to Kansas City for four against the Royals. The first game will be Thursday night at 8:10 PM.
