The A’s gave rookie starter Dillon Overton  a 1-0 lead against  Tomlin  in the first inning, but then Jason Kipnis set the tone for the rest of the night. With one out in the first,  he homered to right field to tie the score. It was Kipnis’ 17th homer of the year ; tying a career high set in 2013. It was also the 2,000th homer hit by an Indians player since Progressive Field opened in 1994.

Jose Ramirez started the second with a homer to left for a 2-1 lead. It was his fifth of the season and first since June 21.

The Indians plated four runs in the fourth to put the game away. Abraham Almonte hit a rocket into the left field bleachers that matched Butler’s distance at 442 feet to start the inning. Rajai Davis singled and scored as Kipnis doubled off the center field wall to end Overton’s night. After Francisco Lindor grounded out, Mike Napoli hit a line-drive homer over the center field fence. It was Napoli’s 23rd homer of the season.

The attendance was 32,850 at Progressive Field on Saturday night.

Final Score: Cleveland Indians 6  – Oakland Athletics 3

On Deck: Sunday will be a battle of aces as Sonny Gray goes up against Corey Kluber. Rich Hill was originally scheduled to start, but the rumored trade bait was scratched due to a blister issue that could cost the Athletics a lot more than one start. The game will start at 1:10 PM in Cleveland.
