Matt D’Agostini Activated

Matt D’Agostini has been activated by the St. Louis Blues and is available to play tonight when the club takes on the Chicago Blackhawks, as reported by Andy Strickland. This news comes just a few days after learning that D’Agostini was cleared for contact, signaling that the forward is no longer suffering symptoms from a concussion.

The Blues are one piece closer to being a completely healthy squad (knock on wood).

D’Agostini last played back on February 7th and has only appeared in 52 games for the St. Louis Blues in 2011-12. He has nine goals and nine assists and a +15 plus/minus rating on the year.

Prior to his injury, D’Agostini had been struggling offensively. Expectations were relatively high coming off a 2010-11 season that saw him notch 21 goals and 25 assists and to date, D’Agostini has seen his pace slow. Part of this is due to the fact the Blues have had increased depth in 2011-12, pushing D’Agostini to a lower line than what we was typically used on in 2010-11. Prior to his injury, D’Agostini had just one goal and two assists in his last 14 games.

D’Agostini brings additional depth which will be needed for the playoffs but it remains to be seen just how effective he will be offensively after missing so much time.

The attention now turns to Andy McDonald, the last major piece of the St. Louis offense that still needs to get healthy.
