Michael Brantley was the team’s only firework on the 4th, adding two hits in which included the Indians only run in the bottom of the 9th, when he blasted a solo homerun.

Feathers Down
Josh Tomlin’s outing began plenty strong, but it ended with fireworks courtesy of the Royals lineup. He had kept the game close up until he served up a full-count fastball to Mike Moustakas, who sent it back the other way for a three-run homer. Tomlin he was charged with five earned runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings after Moustakas’ blast.
Yordano Ventura was nearly un-hittable for Indians hitters up and down the lineup, needing only 103 pitches to work through eight innings before his shutout was spoiled on the ninth-inning solo shot from Brantley. He gave up six hits, issued a pair of walks and struck out four. Ventura spent much of the outing working with a clean set of bases and faced real trouble only when Brantley and Carlos Santana rapped out consecutive singles in the fourth inning. However, that scoring threat came to a quick end once Jason Kipnis hit into an inning-ending double play.
With the loss, the Tribe falls to 3-4 against Kansas City this season and has now lost three straight against its division rival.
