The San Antonio Spurs will face the Philadelphis 76ers tonight in game two of their Rodeo Road Trip but more than likely will not have to worry about center Spencer Hawes.
Although Hawes played in the 76ers’ last two games his strained left Achilles’ tendon flared up again.
Unfortunately the Achilles’ pain has reared its ugly head again. Hawes underwent an MRI on his lower back Monday after practice, which he did not participate in, to see if there might be a connection between the two injuries he has experienced this season.
And seeing how the Spurs and away games haven’t exactly mixed well so far this season, the team can use all the breaks they can get.
Hawes is averaging 10.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 56.8% from the field in 27.6 minutes this season. Also, prior to this recent setback, he scored 14 points versus Atlanta this past Saturday and finished with eight points, five rebounds and five assists in 32 minutes against the Lakers this past Monday.
For his career, Hawes has averaged 11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 51% from the field in 26 minutes versus San Antonio.
