Let the Holiday Season Begin

Thanksgiving has come and gone. The turkey is long since eaten and all the remains is a few containers of leftovers that you may or may not touch for the next month until you find it growing mold come January. The Blues have done their best to ring in the holiday season for fans with a win on Wednesday night and a win Friday night in what were two spirited and tough fought contests. The wins put the Blues back over .500 with a 10-9-4 record heading into tonight’s contest with Detroit.

Overall, the team has looked much, much better in their wins over Nashville and Dallas. Better passing, better scoring (they actually have lit the red lamp – seven times in the past two games!) and have placed pressure on the other team rather than sitting back and letting the play develop.

Paul Kariya finally returned to the boxscore against his old Nashville club and Brad Boyes has a 3-game point streak. David Backes also is starting to show his form from last season with three points in the past two games.

Tonight the Blues return home to face a Detroit side that has experienced wave after wave of injury woes and has struggled just as the Blues have in the early going of the 2009-10 campaign. The Blues then head back on the road for three games facing Columbus, San Jose and Los Angeles.

Winning four of their last five, the Blues can further push their way back into the playoff hunt with a win over one of their biggest rivals tonight.
