FINAL RECAP WITH HIGHLIGHTS: 79 Points For Curry, Durant, Klay Too Much For Portland Trail Blazers (15-22), Warriors (31-5) Win, 125-117

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Portland Trail Blazers at the Golden State Warriors.

The Blazers took a 71-69 lead into halftime.

Q3: Steph With The Separation

Kevin Durant dribbled off his leg to start the third quarter, the 9th turnover by the Warriors, but that was quickly forgotten as he got a dunk inside fed by Draymond Green.

Then after Zaza Pachulia stopped Maurice Harkless at the rim, Golden State went tic-tac-toe with a swing pass from Stephen Curry to Green on the right wing, who then darted a pass inside to a cutting Durant for another dunk:

Portland head coach Terry Stotts called timeout as the Dubs evened the score at 74-74 with 10:00 remaining.

But out of the timeout, Pachulia slipped past the Blazers defense for a nice scoop at the rim, Curry hit a three from the top and might’ve gotten fouled on the fly-by (no call), and Durant got a steal, found Klay Thompson, who dished off to Steph in the left corner.

Curry up-faked the three, drove in, rose for a layup, thinking “pass” to Pachulia, but double-clutched and, at the last moment, laid the ball off the glass with heavy English for the physics-defying reverse.

After an Allen Crabbe turnover to Andre Iguodala, Thompson drove hard in transition on the left side, tried a tomahawk dunk, but got fouled by Al-Farouq Aminu. Klay’s free throws capped a 13-0 run as the Warriors took an 83-78 lead with 5:26 to play.

Later, Steph added a one-handed floater over Meyers Leonard, then hit a triple from the right corner after Iguodala snatched the first miss from nearly the same spot, delivered by Durant:

Golden State had the separation it was looking for, 95-85, with 3:39 to go.

A timeout shortly thereafter had a fan given a generous win on a “Try And Copy That”, featuring JaVale McGee hitting a backwards shot.

Closing out the quarter, Curry incredibly missed two free throws in a row, Iguodala added a catch-and-turn from the left baseline assisted by Ian Clark, Leonard had a surprising massive dunk down the lane, contested, and KD got called for a shoulder on a drive into Leonard in the waning moments.

But Durant atoned with a helping blocked shot on McCollum as CJ shaked-and-baked past Shaun Livingston on at the buzzer.

The Warriors took a 99-92 lead into the final frame.

Q4: Draymond Protects

Sixteen seconds into the fourth quarter, Green picked up his fifth personal foul, but Kerr gambled and kept him in the game.

Livingston added a patented midrange jumper, Draymond went down the left side for an and-one but missed the free throw, then later hit a triple to keep the Blazers at bay, 106-98, with 9:21 remaining.

Portland got as close as two possessions after Green missed a three and Iguodala a wild layup that shanked badly, but after an Evan Turner miss, Livingston grabbed the board and went coast-to-coast for a throw-down, right-handed, and the Warriors’ margin was back to eight points, 111-103, as Stotts took another timeout:

Later, Curry hustled to pick up a loose ball, but ended up missing a trey, then Green fired a rocket to Livingston for another jam…

Steph added a triple from the right corner and, all of a sudden, Golden State had stretched their lead to 118-107 after a 10-4 run. Stotts called timeout again.

Aminu and McCollum book-ended threes around a Klay jumper and a Durant steal-and-coast-to-coast-and-one, and Kerr called timeout, up 123-110, needing to ensure that the Warriors started closing out on the Blazers’ threes.

Steph missed two triples, but Crabbe was off the mark as well, and Green gave no doubt to the outcome of the game as he swatted a lob approaching just 18 seconds to play.

Curry finished off Portland at the free throw line and Golden State (31-5) took the win at the buzzer with a final score of 125-117.
