Roster Update: To make room for Josh Tomlin and Ryan Raburn, Shawn Armstrong and Zach Walters were optioned back to AAA Columbus.

Player of the Game

Josh Tomlin pitched a surprising gem tonight. Aside from back to back home runs in the 5th, he was great. Unfortunately the Indians offense reverted back to its pre-Swisher/Bourn trade form.

Feathers Up

Josh Tomlin was solid through 4 innings today, throwing strikes and getting ahead in the count, the typical Josh Tomlin style of pitching. In the 5th he encountered a little trouble beginning with an improbable home run by Eddie Rosario that was about as up and in as a pitch can get without hitting a batter. Tomlin followed that up with a meatball that Chris Herrmann deposited in the right field seats. Those were the only two mistakes of Tomlin’s outing. For the night Tomlin went 6.1 innings striking out 5, allowing 5 hits and just 2 earned runs.

Feathers Down

The mystery that is the Indians’s inability to hit pitchers they haven’t seen before was in full swing today. Indians’ bats were baffled by Tyler Duffey through 6 innings. While credit should be given to Duffey, who had a tremendous curveball that kept Tribe batters off balance all game, the Indians’ only baserunners through the first 5 innings came by way of the walk. The Indians struggled against a pitcher who came into the game with a 27.00 ERA after his first career start ended after 2 innings, in which he gave up 6 earned runs. Overall the Indians managed just 1 hit off Duffey. This continuing theme of making new pitchers look great is getting a little stale.

Final Score: Cleveland Indians 1 – Minnesota Twins 4

On Deck: Tomorrow the Indians wrap up the series with the Twins with a 2:10 PM start. On the hill for the Indians is Carlos Carrasco, who looks to continue a streak of great starts. In his last 3 outings Carrasco has pitched 9, 9, and 8 innings, allowing a combine 3 runs. Tommy Milone will take the mound for the Twins.
