GAME NOTES: Other than Eric Hinske’s sterling Red Sox debut, this one was a total loss. Jason Johnson pitched poorly, but he wasn’t the only one: Kyle Snyder and Rudy Seanez combined for 3.1 innings of 8 run ball, and only Manny Delcarmen was at all effective. Keith Foulke rejoins the Sox bullpen for Game 2; there’s no word as to who he will replace, but chances are it will be either Johnson or Snyder. Lester vs. Ponson is a somewhat more palatable matchup than this afternoon’s.
