Player of the Game
Tonight’s Player of the Game was removed for a pinch hitter late in the game, because that’s what should always happen. Matt LaPorta hit an RBI double, giving him a score of 1.68 for the game. It was his first RBI of the season and his first Player of the Game, mostly due to being absolutely terrible during the short time he has been with the Tribe this year.
Feathers Up
I can’t complain about the lineup tonight since Manny Acta did just what I outlined in the series preview. He played Russ Canzler at first, Thomas Neal in left and DH’d Matt LaPorta.
Good luck to the Rangers in their pursuit of another Western Division title. While it wouldn’t be terrible to see the Athletics win it this year, you always have to root for the team that has never won a World Series.
Continuing with their little league efforts, the Indians made sure every one got a chance to play with some unnecessary late inning substitutions. Every uninjured position player found his way into the game with the exception of Lou Marson, who is so bad he couldn’t even make it into an actual little league game.
Feathers Down
For some reason Jason Donald was playing third tonight and things did not go well for him. There is no reason Lonnie Chisenhall couldn’t have started today (he is coming back from a broken bone, not from a strained muscle or ligament) and the Indians have already said how they are disappointed in the amount of at bats he will get this year. If that is true he should be playing just about every single game over the next couple weeks. Of course if it was really true they would have had him on the roster when the season started.
Play of the Game
Jason Donald started things off the wrong way by throwing a ball way inside the baseline at first, giving an error to Russ Canzler and leading to three unearned runs in the second inning.
