Erik Johnson Signs Two-Year Deal

Erik Johnson Signs Two-Year Deal

The Blues recently signed David Perron to a new two-year deal and now Erik Johnson has one of his own. Believed to be the future leader of the team’s defense, Johnson is the proud owner of a new two-year, $5.2 million contract that averages to $2.6 million each season.

Great signing by the Blues. The team needed to reach a deal with the youngster sooner than later and landed him at a very fair price. The team likely wasn’t in the position to offer a larger or longer deal and now can sit back and evaluate Johnson over the next two seasons before making their next move.

Johnson had to churn through the rust of missing nearly a year with a knee injury and still hasn’t shown his full potential at the NHL level.

Expect Johnson to come out looking sharp this year as he has now a full season of NHL hockey under his belt as well as a solid stint with the USA in the Olympics.
