9/21: Tim Wakefield (15-11, 4.07) @ Scott Kazmir (9-9, 3.77)

We have a chance to get above .500 at Tropicana Field. We are now 4-4 this year, after the absolute bashing that we put on the Devil Rays last night. David Ortiz is a monster. There is no other way around it. He is a clutch-hitting monster. Period.
We are facing Scott Kazmir, who always gives us a hard time (1-1 with a 3.04 ERA against us on the year, 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA lifetime). He has a 3.55 ERA at Tropicana Field this year, and a 3.77 ERA cumulative. He’ll be opposing Tim Wakefield, who loves Tropicana Field as well. Having a 15-11 record and 4.07 ERA, Wakefield has been our most consistent pitcher this year. He takes a 9-6 career record at Tropicana into the game, and a 1.79 ERA. That’s the best, except for 4 starts and a 1.31 ERA at now defunct County Stadium, and a pair of 0.00s – one a relief inning in Atlanta-Fulton (now defunct) and eight sharp innings against the Phillies at Citizen’s Bank Park.
Rodrigo Lopez, Sox-killer, will try to kill off some pinstripes as he’ll oppose Randy Johnson. Stay tuned…
