9/26: Dave Bush (5-10, 4.45) @ Curt Schilling (7-8, 5.89)

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
7 games to go for us, 7 to go for the Yanks. Dead tie in the AL East, and if that wasn’t enough, those last three are head to head. To get to them, however, we have to go through the Jays.
This is a Jays team I know fairly well, having spent the last year in Toronto. The key to beating them, essentially, is to keep them away from the big inning. They are a surprisingly decent offensive club, but lack firepower. Don’t walk them, scatter their hits, and you’ll be fine… provided you hit their pitching, which to this point has been the best in the division.
Speaking of hitting, the Sox bats remembered their jobs over the weekend. With run totals of 6, 4, and 9 – 19 total, an average of 6.33 – is it possible that that one day off, which had been trumpeted to the point of absurdity, is really the cause? Or did our team take a nice hard look at itself while spending an easy day by the Inner Harbor? Whatever happened, they awoke with a start this weekend. Here’s hoping the trend continues in front of the home crowd (and myself) this evening.
First pitch: 7:05pm EDT.
