Player of the Game

The Indians offense finished the season on a high note with 7 runs on 14 hits. The last Player of the Game award of the 2014 season goes to Zach Walters. Walters contributed a home run and a double to today’s win knocking in 2 and scoring once. David Murphy was not far behind with a home run and a single, with 2 RBI.

Feathers Up
The Indians found their power in the second inning, blasting two solo home runs to double their run total over the past two games. It turns out that the Indians power had been injured and on the bench as it was David Murphy and Zach Walters who hit the home runs. Walters has had just one at bat in the Indians last 12 games and on the month was just 2/21 coming into this game.

The Indians added on in the fifth, showing that hustling is just as important as hitting hard. Tyler Holt started off the inning with a slow ground ball up the middle that just eluded Logan Forsythe and Nick Franklin. Although the ball barely made it to the outfield, Holt took advantage of the lax defense with some aggressive base running and turned a seeing-eye single into a double. He was moved to third with a J.B. Shuck ground out, then scored on a Jose Ramirez shallow sacrifice fly.

For most Tribe veterans, the off season started a day early. Terry Francona had 6 rookies in his starting lineup today, and pitched 2 more out of the bullpen.

Feathers Down
The regular season is over, and the Indians failed to make the post season. Tomorrow is officially day 1 of the off-season.

Final Score: Cleveland Indians 7 – Tampa Bay Rays 2

On Deck: The Cleveland Indians will play their next regular season game on April 6th, 2015 in Houston.
