Brett Hull Statue Unveiling on
Opening Night
The St. Louis Blues will unveil a statue honoring Brett Hull on the team’s first home game of the season on October 9th.
The team’s official site, stlblues.com, announced that the statue will officially be unveiled on opening night scheduled on Ocotber 9th. Dave Checketts announced last season that a statue would be placed alongside the current two of Federko and MacInnis.
Somewhat ironically, the team hosts Chris Pronger and the Philadelphia Flyers on the same night they take a moment to look back at one of their past greats.
Yahoo’s hockey blogger, Puck Daddy, made a fine observation following the news surrounding Hull’s statue. He noted that the St. Louis Stanley Cup to statue ratio in St. Louis appears to be a bit skewed. A very fair point seeing as the team has yet to bring a title home.
I don’t see anything wrong with remembering the past, but I do think this team needs to make a huge stride forward in the near future. News about statues is fine and all, but there is only one think St. Louis fans want to see when the visit the Scottrade Center and that’s a winning team.
