PRIOR GAME AGAINST OPPONENT: Red Sox 1, White Sox 0 on 9/5/06 DECISION: W: Kason Gabbard | L: Javier Vazquez | S: Mike Timlin STAR OF THE GAME: Kason Gabbard – 7 IP, 0 ER, 6 K, 2 BB |
GAME NOTES: I was present for yesterday’s win, and it was a great one. Kason Gabbard pitched a beauty of a game, getting out of a couple jams and cruising the rest of the way through 7 innings of 3 hit, shutout ball. Mike Timlin polished it off with a 2 inning save. The offense was lackluster, but scored exactly enough to beat a team that didn’t score at all, and the Sox gathered the 1-0 victory, taking the series from the White Sox and looking for the sweep today. Kyle Snyder faces down Jose Contreras; let’s hope the Sox bats wake up and we treat him like we did when he wore Yankee pinstripes.
