DECISION: W: Clay Buchholz | L: Danys Baez | S: Jonathan Papelbon STAR OF THE GAME: Clay Buchholz: 3 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 3 K RED SOX’S PREVIOUS GAME: Boston 7 @ Baltimore 6 on 9/6/07 |
GAME NOTES: Clay Buchholz shined again last night and would have come out for the ninth had the Sox not taken the lead. Part of me thinks this is a good idea, part of me wants him to pitch as little as possible while staying fresh for a potential postseason run of glory. Lester and Cabrera are known for their erratic control (hence the headline) … will it be a long game, or can Lester pound the zone? If the Sox win today, they move 30 games above .500 for the first time all year.
