It’s only April, but I have a feeling this road trip is a big one for the Pirates. They’re 11-14 and they haven’t played particularly badly or well (yesterday’s game excepted) to this point in the year, but now they’ve got six on the road with the red-hot Rockies and Padres. This is where last year’s team would’ve fallen apart; how will the 2011 Pirates handle it? I’ll be happy if they come back from this trip 14-17. I’m fearing much worse.
Tonight, Kevin Correia tries to bounce back from his last ugly outing against Jhoulys Chacin. The Pirates touched Chacin up for five runs at PNC before the bullpen blew their lead, so hopefully they can do the same tonight. It’s time for Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez to start hitting. Maybe the thin air will help them. First pitch tonight is at 8:40.
Today in bad decisions allegedly made by Clint Hurdle: He told FOX to cancel Firefly.
