According to Killer Kowalski’s latest report, several members of the Detroit Lions organization were dropping more than a few indications at an event for season ticket holders that the second overall pick in the 2010 draft would indeed be used to select Ndamukong Suh (pronounced en’da:makin ‘su, if you didn’t know already. Practice it, learn it, love it).
Now, most of the remarks that stem from the mouths of NFL team execs at this time of the year are utter bologna, and only being used as smoke screens to throw off other GMs. However, as Killer states, that probably isn’t the case in this instance.
“…it’s very unlikely the Lions would use their season tickets holders as stooges to get out a false message. It’s much more likely the Lions would want to give their ticket-buying and most loyal fans the first hint of what they’re thinking. After the draft, they don’t want their fans feeling like they got duped, they want their fans feeling like they got the scoop.“
Even if you didn’t know how to pronounce his name, I’m sure you’ve come across Suh’s college accolades and NFL draft status at some point. What you probably haven’t heard is that Suh’s acceleration and speed trumps Tony Romo’s and the force of his hitting impact is stronger than Ray Lewis, Kris Jenkins and even Bill Brasky. Yikes. If you don’t believe me, it’s science. Check it out here on Bill Nye, I mean ESPN’s SportScience.
I must admit, I’ve been excited about the possibility of Suh wearing Honolulu and Blue for almost a year now. However, the cynic in me knows that what seems too good to be true, usually is. After putting up with a decade’s worth of Matt Millen draft busts, that cynical side tells me we should be paying more attention to both of Suh’s surgical repaired knees.
But the Kool-Aid tastes so good! I could be fan-drunk on Kool-Aid Jammers, but a world class NFL GM has taken the place of the Porn-Stached Buffoon. If Suh’s knees are okay by Mayhew, by golly they’re okay by me.
