A Changeup

I don’t really know what I’m going to write about for this Tuesday. I looked at the site, and I’m going to admit something. It’s become a little bit boring. All that seems to happen are basketball previews and recaps. Something new needs to happen. That’s why a post like this is on the docket. It’s a post to break up the same ol’ same ol’ that seems to be happening. That’s boring for me to write all the time, and it’s gotta be boring for you to read. There is still going to be basketball talk, and football talk and whatever in this post, it just won’t be so contained. It will also feature other things. Let me start typing and then you can see what it is.

I think my favorite player to watch, not named Jimmer, is Kemba Walker. He made yet another game winning basket yesterday against Villanova. He is by far the best player in the Big East, and a gigantic reason why UConn is a top 10 team. I was wondering during the game what UConn would be if they lost the game. They would have 3 conference losses, and who knows, maybe they could have lost 6 or 7 games in the conference. That would put them at like 5th or 6th in the Big East. And let’s say they win against Tennessee. They would have the best non-conference wins, be 6th in the Big East, and they would also be a chic final four pick. That scenario could still happen, which makes things interesting. I know that I wouldn’t be against this UConn team in the NCAA tournament. Kemba is way too good.

I mentioned Jimmer just then, and I have to say, if you aren’t watching him play, you are missing out. He put up 47 last week. Just incredible. You might hear things about how he’s awesome and think ‘But he plays in the MWC, and that conference is ass.’ You would be wrong since San Diego State is really good. You would also be wrong because that’s how it use to be for good Cincinnati players. Hell, even anyone good in the C-USA days. Dwyane Wade was a little underrated nationally because he played at Marquette. The same even went for Francisco Garcia at Louisville. It was unfair if you watched them play, and it’s unfair to Jimmer. By the way, Wade and Garcia are both in the NBA. Just sayin’.

Speaking of San Diego St, I noticed UC has them as a future opponent. I don’t know how well that one is going to work out. It would be nice for the UC players to get a trip to San Diego in the future. It would suck for San Diego to come to Cincinnati. I don’t know how good that program is going to be after Hoke. He seemed like a really good coach. Plus, he won at Ball State. Ball State. Who use to call them Testicle Tech? I think it was everyone, but I’m pretty sure someone on the radio did.

I think it might have been Marc Amazon. I don’t actually think that, I just wanted to mention Marc Amazon. I loved his show back in the day. I don’t know why teenage me listened to sports talk radio so much. I listened to Amazon, Rome, Lance McAlister, that’s about it. But, Amazon was the first one that I really had a connection with. I called into his show a few times. I emailed him asking to be an intern at the behest of my dad, even though I wasn’t that old to be an intern. He had an intern contest, in which I lost. He had us all steal Seg Dennison’s almanacs, and I heard that he got really pissed. I met Gary Burbank that day, it was pretty awesome. Some college kid got to be the intern. Stupid college kid. After that, I emailed Marc a few times and we didn’t exactly become friends, but we became friendly. He was also a big wrestling fan, and I was, and am, so we worked out a thing where I got to go in the studio in exchange for letting him borrow tapes. When his show ended, he still had one of my tapes, and I emailed him once a week until he mailed it back. He didn’t appreciate it very much. I don’t know what happened to him. He was a good guy though. I got a shirt. RIP Marc Amazon.

I think I’ve told that story before, oh well. I’ll tell a new story. I think it’s weird following college athletes on twitter. Some of them are good tweeters, others are terrible, and some seem to use twitter as a text message service. I don’t know what a sub tweet is, and quite frankly, I never want to know. It’s annoying to read that on my timeline. Some of them seem to use it try and get laid. I wish that worked for bloggers. I would so try to get the 3 girls that read my tweets to tweet me in person. Yeah I did. There are a lot of the players that are good at answering questions, and some will even follow back. That’s nice of them. There comes a line though. I followed a couple of UC recruits, and I dunno, something seems weird about tweeting guys who are in high school. I’ve thought about saying something to them, but it would seem weird. I don’t mean that because I run a UC blog, I mean just in general. It’s different if you don’t know how old the people are. Sometimes they say they are 18, but you can’t be sure. That judge was right. This point really took a turn off the path it started on.

I google searched Marc Amazon, and apparently he’s on 700 WLW now. Maybe he will find this blog when he googles himself. I hope not, because he would not remember who I am, and then it would be awkward. Or, he would remember me and get pissed off at me and have me murdered.  If he has someone murdered now, this post is going to appear on that google search. That’s kinda weird. Don’t have anyone murdered Marc Amazon.

Our good friends at Card Chronicle have shirts for sale now. I suggest buying like 5. I like CC, it’s a good blog. They link my stuff every time I link it there, and let’s face it, it’s one of the best blogs on the internet. That might be a wee bit of hyperbole, but it’s one of the best college blogs out there that’s independent. SB Nation doesn’t really count. If it weren’t for them, this blog wouldn’t exist. That’s the truth. I wanted a blog like that for UC, and while it’s not really like that at all, I’m trying to make this blog better. Sometimes it’s hard knowing if I’m going a good job or bad job with the blog. Sometimes, most of the time, I think I’m doing a pretty bad job. I can’t read the blog like an outsider. I know that every word is something that I put into it, and I can’t be objective. If I were to read something I wrote posted on another site by someone else and I had a Men in Black brain wipeout and didn’t know I wrote it, I’d like to think that I would like it. It was pretty nice reading some good words from people on message boards the week of the Crosstown Shootout. If I was smart, I would probably join those boards and sneak links to my stuff everywhere. But, that would be stupid, and I’m sure that there would be a bunch of people who hated it. If I read a message board site, which I don’t really because I just don’t, I would hate it if someone from a blog I never heard of put a bunch of links in everything. Of course, there were some people, Xavier people, who didn’t like what I wrote, so that brought me down some. I don’t really know how many people read the blog. The google analytic and sitemeter numbers are seemingly never the same. They only register 10 million hits a day, so it’s hard to see how many more than that I’m getting. I’m not sure I really want to know though. When I started the blog, I charted that stuff nearly daily. I don’t actually know what a good audience to have is, so that makes it tough to know what the audience is. I do know that I need to get a blogroll on here to link to all the people that I’ve been friendly with the past year. I feel like a jerk because some people link to me and I don’t link back. I’m sorry people. I just noticed that this post turned very inward. I’m going to cut it off here.

As always, thanks so, so much for reading the site. I appreciate it very much. Feel free to hit me with feedback on here, there is a contact me button up top, there is a link to my twitter, so you can tweet me things, that’s about it. There are two ways of contacting me. I will get back to more traditional posts starting tomorrow, so if you hated this post so much, don’t worry, it’s over. I don’t actually have to apologize, because if you didn’t like this post, you probably stopped reading a long ass time ago. If you stopped reading, get fucked. If you continued reading, even if you hated this post, thank you. I’ll try to be better. Oh, I didn’t say anything about basketball or football. Here goes. Go Bearcats. Boom, that’s how you blog. For no reason, here’s the muppets/Kanye West Monster mash up.
