A Few Facts About The Philadelphia Eagles

It may be a full week before the Seattle Seahawks play the Philadelphia Eagles, but there is no harm in beginning the conversation now. I did some early research and found some facts that raise interesting questions.

FACT: Eagles have played only one game where their opponent had no turnovers

They lost that game 53-20. Seattle has had no turnovers in six out of their twelve games.

FACT: Philadephia is 0-3 when scoring less than 27 points in a game, and 9-0 when scoring 27 or more

Seattle has allowed three teams to score 27 or more points this year, and are 0-3 in those games. They are 8-1 when holding teams below 27 points.

FACT: Philadephia has played two Top 10 scoring defenses (Arizona, San Francisco), and are 0-2 in those games

Seattle is the #4 scoring defense heading into this weeks games. Seattle has faced three Top 10 scoring offenses (Denver, Green Bay, Dallas) and are 2-1 in those games, allowing an average of 22 ppg.

FACT: Mark Sanchez has not faced a defense ranked higher than 18th in yards allowed in his starts

Seattle is ranked #1 in the NFL in yards allowed.

FACT: The Eagles have played two teams ranked better than 15th in giveaways (Green Bay, Arizona), and are 0-2 in those games

Seattle ranks #2 in the NFL in giveaways, at just 0.8 per game.

FACT: Philadelphia is second in the NFL in sacks with 42 and second in sack percentage at 8.6%

The Eagles have six players with 3.0 sacks or more. The Seahawks have 20 sacks total, and only three players with 3.0 or more. No Seahawks player has more than 5.0 sacks.

FACT: Philadelphia ranks fourth in the NFL in opponent sack percentage, allowing sacks on just 3.6% of pass attempts

Seattle ranks 28th in this statistic.

FACT: The Eagles are 26th in the NFL in turnover margin and dead last in giveaways

Philadelphia averages 2.3 giveaways per game, but is fifth in the NFL in takeaways at 1.8 per game. No team in the NFL has forced more turnovers in the last four games than the Eagles, who have twelve in that time.
