For all of the heartache that Buckeye Nation has endured the last 9 months, today marks the beginning of a new era in Ohio State football history.

According to multiple reports, Urban Meyer has accepted the head coaching job at The Ohio State University. Meyer’s agent, Trace Armstrong made it official to various outlets early this morning, including the folks at the four letter network.

According to many sources, a press conference will be scheduled for later this afternoon. We will keep you up to date here on The Buckeye Battle Cry when more information is available.

It is still unclear on whether Luke Fickell will remain on staff with Meyer. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Fickell has been offered a position on the Ohio State staff, but his final decision has not been confirmed. With the quickly timing of the head coach opening at Akron, the Fickell could be contemplating taking over that program.

Other mid west jobs could be intriguing, with the likes of Penn State, Illinois, and Kansas hiring new coaching staff.

The Dealer is also reporting that Wide Receivers coach Stan Drayton has been asked to stay on staff. Drayton worked with Meyer at Florida during their championship runs.

Other Media outlets have reported on twitter that quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano will be let go. Like Jim Tressel, Meyer has been well known for being the mentor and teacher to his starting and incoming quarterbacks.
