Since 1981 The Links Mid-Cities chapter has sought to serve and empower the disenfranchise residents of of West Irving, East Arlington, and South Grand Prairie. Founded by 25 enterprising women, The Links has done commendable accomplishments for the youth of the community.
In keeping with such an amicable vision, The Links Mid-Cities chapter held their 22nd annual black tie boxing fight night. The event was a success with the ballroom filled to capacity with some of DFW’s most generous philanthropists and business leaders attended the affair at the posh surrounding of Dallas’ Fairmont Hotel on Saturday night. Highlighting the night was a five bout fight card which featured four boxing bouts and a muay thai match to entertain the masses.
In the night’s boxing main event Michael Lemelle weathered the hard charges of Jeremy Hall to emerge victorious with a narrow split decision victory.
The night’s co-main event arguably stole the show in terms of action as Rashad Coulter settled a grudge match of sorts as he scored a unanimous decision over Edgar Verdin in both MMA fighters’ professional boxing debut.
The night’s lone muay thai bout featured Chop Shop’s Chris Gutierrez earning a unanimous decision victory over the talented and battle-tested Jimmy Flick.
Houston media presence Mike “The Truth” Jackson improved to 2-0 in his professional boxing career with a highlight reel knockout of Sean Douglas.
The night of fights kicked off with a spirited majority draw between Javier Diaz and Martines Porter.
