A pump up video… and my pre-game speech to the fans

Ladies and Gentlemen, 

We stand here tonight in our green and white gear… perhaps reading on a cell phone at a bar… on a tablet at some Starbucks, or on a computer at home… as a fan-base hoping for history. 

We stand here tonight, as a diverse group of young and old… black and white… men and women… from dozens of countries…  united by a common love for a simple jersey, the franchise it represents, and the history that frames it.  

We stand here tonight, nervous even though we do not play. 

We stand here tonight as not just Celtics fans.  But Celtics ourselves. 

Tonight, we cheer for victory.  We will scream ourselves hoarse.  We will high-five until our palms are numb.  And we will, at approximately 11pm Eastern time, either celebrate a win and a highly improbable Finals berth…. or a loss that ends the season. 

And regardless of the outcome… regardless of what our emotions might try to make us do… we will accept this result with the honor and dignity that we expect of our team on the floor. 

Because that's what Celtics do. 

Celtics don't make excuses.  Celtics don't throw fits.  Celtics set the example.  

Ours is the greatest fan-base in sports because of these things. 

Tonight, we are all Celtics.
