On July 5th, the Bruins signed Phoenix backup goaltender Chad Johnson to a one year, $600K contract. I, honestly, had no idea who Chad Johnson was until I started doing research for this post.
Seriously.
I looked him up on hockeydb and this is what his stats look like:
As you can see, there's not much NHL experience under his belt. He's played 10 NHL games, starting in the 2009-2010 season. He does have a ton of AHL experience, but his numbers are pretty average. I don't see him being the back-up goalie in Boston. I think Svedberg is going to challenge him and potentially beat him for that spot.
I mean, if you want to make a case for the guy, you can point to his 1.21 GAA and one shutout in four games played.
