Derek Stepan talks to Blueshirts United about how the Rangers have been able to succeed on the ice despite the numerous Winter Classic distractions…
“Our leaders have stepped up, and even our coaching staff has done a really good job of making sure we are focused,” explained Stepan. “It’s pretty hard to get too far ahead of ourselves with the way we go about our business in our organization and in our locker room. I’d say leadership all the way through help guys understand the importance of one game at a time. There is now a Rangers way of doing things, and we all understand that.”
…i absolutely effing love that. The old Rangers way was a country club setting for aging super stars now it’s work hard and give 100% or you’re out. And there’s one person, and one person only, who deserves credit for this and it’s John Tortorella. You can hate on him all you like about constant line changes and the whole Avery debacle, but the Rangers culture shift since he’s been on board has been dramatic.
