Big Ten Media Days won’t be a two-day crazy affair for Wisconsin Badgers fans anymore, or at least for this year. With a re-formatting of the event to two days split up with seven teams on each day a fan of just one team can focus in on just one day.
So, what information is vital to Badger fans heading in to Big Ten Media Days on Thursday? Let us give you the scoop before we tell you the things we’ll be looking for too.

- Head Coach Paul Chryst Speaks to all media at 12:30 to 12:45pm CT
- Wisconsin Players available 2:15-2:45pm CT at the podium, 2:45-3:45 pm CT at round tables
- Wisconsin Coaches available 2:15-3:15pm CT at the podium, 3:15-3:45pm CT at round tables

— Is Corey Clement Ready to be “The Man?”
Melvin Gordon was soooooo comfortable with the media it was scary. He didn’t shy away from self-critical statements or being real throughout his time as a Badger. This season will be all about Corey Clement stepping up to the starting role and filling some big shoes in terms of leadership. The fact that he’s on the list of players coming to media day says a lot about the trust this coaching staff has in him.
Clement appears ready on the field, but how he handles the media and maybe defining his own character outside of being just “Melvin Gordon’s replacement” is something we’ll be watching.
— Does Paul Chryst Have a Personality?
Talk to those who know Chryst best and they are somewhat surprised that the general perception of him is of a gruff man who has little time or personality outside of football. While he dives head first in to the game, no doubt about that, the other truth is he does have some personality to him when he’s comfortable.
While his job on Thursday isn’t to make the media fall in love with him, it is important that he shows he cares enough to at least promote the program a bit. Think of it as maybe taking a bit of the Barry Alvarez and Gary Andersen playbooks and mashing them together. Lord knows we don’t need him going all Bret Bielema on us.
Still, Wisconsin will be in the mix with Michigan State and Ohio State on Thursday and getting some piece of attention would be helpful to say the least.
— What Will Stave Have to Say About the Transition?
Spring told us that Stave appeared to have some confidence going in to summer workouts with his team, so it will be interesting to see how Stave reflects on the time he spent with the coaching staff in spring and how the relationship is reconnecting going forward.
If there’s one player that holds the key to just how successful the 2015 season will be, it is Stave. Seeing how that transition with the coaching staff and the players around him is progressing should be interesting.
