Some of the AAC Football Fever staff members have been hand selected to give their weekly picks for each American Athletic Conference game.
Blake Lovell, Mitch Wilcox, Jay Saunders, John Nestor, Zach Rastall, Al Burke, and Michael Compton will test their knowledge by contesting me each and every week for bragging rights (and maybe a gratifying pat on the back) at the end of the season.
Things didn’t get much better for the AAC after finishing 2-7 in Week 2.
Thanks to an impressive offensive debut from Cincinnati and a possible conference-saving win by ECU over Virginia Tech, the AAC avoided an even worse follow-up, ending last Saturday night with a 2-6 record for Week 3.
The perception isn’t great right now for the second-year conference, as it currently sits at 2-9 for the season against non-conference Power 5 opponents. However, ECU and Cincinnati (and possibly Memphis, Temple, and still yet UCF), can be the saving grace for The American moving forward.
This weekend looks much more promising for the AAC, with a good opportunity to grab a collective winning record for the first week this season.
