Some of the AAC Football Fever staff members have been hand selected to give their weekly picks for each American Athletic Conference game.
Blake Lovell, Mitch Wilcox, Jay Saunders, John Nestor, Zach Rastall, Al Burke, and Michael Compton will test their knowledge by contesting me each and every week for bragging rights (and maybe a gratifying pat on the back) at the end of the season.
I’m a day late and a dollar short on posting these, and for those who still have any confidence in us picking games, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. (You guys are troopers, by the way.)
Two of the four Week 9 games will be played before Saturday: East Carolina gets UConn tonight and Cincinnati hosts South Florida under the Friday night lights. Can the Huskies’ defense slow down Shane Carden and company enough to keep them from being embarrassed on national television? Will USF even its record at .500 with a second consecutive win over the Bearcats? The likely answer to both of those questions is a resounding no, but this is the AAC and the AAC’s favorite thing to do is befuddle its audience.
The Memphis Tigers are licking their lips for a chance to rebound against hapless SMU, and Temple travels to Orlando to face a Central Florida squad that’s riding a four-game winning streak with a lot on the line.
On to the picks (can you spot the difference?):
