After two groups of draft prospects rolled through the practice facility early Monday, Arizona Wildcats big man Aaron Gordon dropped by Sacramento in the afternoon for a media-free meeting with the Kings brass.  According a person with knowledge of the situation, Gordon met with owner Vivek Ranadivé and the Kings front office before puting up a few shots.

ESPN‘s Jeff Goodman first broke the news, calling the solo meeting “a shooting and athleticism workout”.

According to an NBA spokesperson, the Kings did nothing wrong by not disclosing Gordon’s presence to local media.  NBA teams have the option to keep meetings with prospects private without the media’s knowledge.

Gordon is an athletic, defensive-minded power forward that looks to be a great fit alongside center DeMarcus Cousins.  The 18-year-old high-flier turned heads at the NBA combine when he measured in at 6-8.75 in shoes with a 39-inch max vertical.

Cowbell Kingdom caught up with Gordon last month in Oakland during game 6 of the Clippers/Warriors playoff series.  “I think I’m a capable player of fitting in anywhere and hopefully leading by example,” Gordon said.  “So if the Kings want to draft me, that’d be absolutely stupendous.”

In his draft diary for SLAM Magazine, Gordon said Sacramento would be his first stop, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic.  The Lakers, Celtics and Magic own the seventh, sixth and fourth picks respectively in the upcoming draft.  In his diary, he also mentioned the possibility of playing for the Kings this season.

“There’s a lot of good things going on in Sacramento,” Gordon wrote.  “DeMarcus Cousins, Big Cous! Have you seen his highlights? He’s a beast. His highlights are some of the most fun to watch in the NBA. His highlights are crazy. My game could definitely develop from playing with him.”
