About The Hall of Very Good

ABOUT THE HALL

The Hall of Very Good™ was conceived years ago as a way to get people talking about who should or shouldn’t be enshrined in Cooperstown.  Since then, it has evolved into a site that provides “water cooler” fodder and entertaining perspectives on the game for anyone who will listen.

I’m pretty sure friend of The Hall Benjamin Christensen summed it up best:

“While most people think the game is centered around the players and suits who pay the bills, the reality is that the fans, food and ticket vendors, and even the mascots truly encompass the history of America’s past time.”

ABOUT THE LOGO

Since 2009, the “Grimsley” has graced the front page of The Hall, welcoming each of the millions of readers that have visited the site.  Designed by graphic artist Foodstamp Davis, the logo is a take on former big leaguer Ross Grimsley’s 1981 Topps trading card.  And in case you were curious, Mr. Grimsley does indeed approve of his likeness!

WHO ARE WE?

SHAWN ANDERSON, Managing Editor

Shawn is that guy who instead of sitting there talking about the game going on around him is talking wise about the history of baseball.  A self-confessed “contrarian”, who was, good or bad, encouraged by far too many people to put his unique thoughts out there for everyone to read.  Shawn believes immortal figures such as Tommy John, Harold Baines, Ron Guidry and Billy Martin deserve their own plaque somewhere if not in Cooperstown and fondly remembers the time he saw Rickey Henderson walking into a hotel with a woman on each arm following a Yankees game. You can follow Shawn on Twitter at @HOVG.

LOU OLSEN, Chief of Stache

Lou is proud to even be listed as a member of The Hall of Very Good team.  Mostly he is moral support for the site, but does handle interviews and is the co-creator of the Glenn Burke Memorial Courage Award. Lou also serves as co-host of the “HOVG Podcast”.  Lou aspires to have his own mustache someday.  Feel free to follow him on Twitter at @LouciferOlsen.

DAN GLICKMAN, Co-conspirator

Dan is a freelance writer in Western New York who can often be found at the ballpark, watching a ballgame on TV, or talking about baseball online (when he isn’t talking about movies, television, video games, or the Buffalo Bills). His blog can be found at baseballcontinuum.com and you can follow Dan on Twitter at @danjglickman.

BO ROSNY, Co-conspirator

Bo writes the baseball card blog Baseball Cards Come to Life, where he is profiling each of the 6,930 major and minor league baseball players he has at least one card of. He is always up for a trade…check out his want/trade lists!
