For the first in 16 years team USA has won the 2015 Women’s World Cup! After what was an absolutely thrilling championship game in Vancouver, British Columbia. USA absolutely dominated the game as they scored quickly and often. The final score of the game was USA 5 and Japan 2.
The USA spared no time before breaking the 0-0 tie as Carli Lloyd would score her first of 3 goals only three minutes into the game. The next goal was not far off as Lloyd got her second goal only 2 minutes later.
Than 14 minutes into the game Lauren Holiday made the game 3-0 with very nice goal. But even after the Holiday goal USA was not done yet. Carli Lloyd scored her hat trick goal from just about midfield, on what was a very bad played ball from the Japan keeper Ayumi Kaihori. That was the quickest hat trick ever scored in a World Cup game.
But USA could not keep Japan off the score sheet, as in the 27th minute Yuki Ogimi stopped the USA scoring spree making the game 4-1. Japan did score one more goal but it was an own goal that went off of Julie Johnston and into the back of the USA net.
Finally Tobin Heath in the 54th minute made the game 5-2. This was the highest scoring World Cup Championship ever played. The full 90 minutes were very entertaining and team USA deserves the win. A lot of people put doubt into this USA team saying “they don’t have what it takes” and “They are prepared to play 1 game not 7”. But throughout all the negativity they fought threw it and have come out champions.
