No doubt tired of being blasted for being slow, Adrian Gonzalez challenged Los Angeles Dodgers radio host David Vassegh to a foot race prior to Friday night’s game against the San Diego Padres.
Suffice it to say, the first baseman won the impromptu 40-yard dash.

Thankfully, Vassegh took the loss in stride…no pun intended.
It's true @AdrianTitan23 smoked me today in 40 yard dash. He's faster than I thought #HumblePie #DodgerTalk pic.twitter.com/Qbt2TBshOq

Watching a radio host getting smoked by one of the slowest cats in the game in a race reminds me of my favorite example of a media member thinking he’s got skills to compete against a professional athlete. In 2008, Chicago Sun-Times reporter Joe Cowley went head-to-head with former Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski in an attempt to steal a base.
