AFC South Salary analysis

From FO on Insider

Indianapolis Colts

2010 team salary: $131,087,185
2010 dead money: $5,061,689
Player with highest salary: Peyton Manning, QB ($19,266,666)

Non-tendered player in a contract year: Manning
Peyton Manning is clearly the Colts’ top priority. The Colts have a history of overpaying for their core players’ extensions, as they did with Bob Sanders, Dallas Clark and Dwight Freeney. Manning won’t just want more money than Tom Brady; he’ll also want the largest contract in NFL history.

Player who has to live up to salary: Bob Sanders, S ($7,044,166)
When you look at how often Sanders has missed playing time, it’s amazing that he’s one of the five highest-paid safeties in the game. Sanders has had played in more than six games in only two seasons. Since signing an extension that included $20 million guaranteed at the end of 2007, Sanders has played in eight games. The Colts seem unlikely to get good returns on their investment
