In an absolute roller coaster of a game, the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Washington Capitals 4-3. The fourth line started the fun in the second period and made what turned out to be a good Metro division affair. Highlights? Join me after the jump.
Highlights:
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Good: Cam Atkinson
Plainly, he needed this game very badly. Atkinson got himself a goal and an assist, the goal which was rather fluky is hopefully a start of something great for him. After starting the year on fire, he had been held goalless for fourteen games, a troublesome stat for the top six winger. The entire first line was a corsi monster, Cam Atkinson especially, he had a 64% EVCF tops on the team. More games like this and Cam may find an extension on his door step.
The Bad: The Third Line
Alex Wennberg wasn’t very good this evening. Matt Calvert who tried his damnedest was also very bad. Jeremy Morin left early with an injury. This line hasn’t been terrible recently but this evening they weren’t good no matter the metric you looked at. Interested to see who comes in and who comes out with the possibility of Artem Anisimov returning shortly, definitely a situation to monitor.
The Ugly: Nothing
I can complain about the sub .900 sv% but enjoy the win as the team hasn’t seen many of them recently.
